I do, you're just late :P
I take the readings at reset, which is when there was 5 mil left. Servers must have paid out that at the reset.

Money: 113,265,909

Markets: Crazy. 2DDs per EC now ;)

-- Mon, 28 Dec 2009 01:11:32 +0000 --

Back from holiday, figures are in:
Money: 125,470,899
Websites: 374,363
Energy Charges: 7,863
Donator Days: 22,842

Ratios: 1: 2.9 : 47.6 : 16k
EC: DD : WS : CD
So DD has strengthened considerably against the EC, while others have had some strengthening

Market report: Webs/DDs still cheap, ECs still fairly expensive.

Start of the new year, time for a full economic report methinks :P
Money: 181,193,512
Websites: 477,115
Energy Charges: 9,404
Donator Days: 23,735

Ratio (EC:DD:WS:CD): 1 : 2.5 : 50.7 : 19.3k

Markets:
EC: 88218
WS: 175
DD: 36967

Ratio (EC:DD:WS:CD): 1 : 2.4 : 504 : 88k

What I interpret the markets predict: The CD is currently very undervalued, so ECs will fall in price greatly with the DD following. Webs will rise greatly in value as they are sold at 1/10 the ratio that they are around at.

What Rusty predicts: ECs will drop while DDs rise as more ECs are created and DDs dry up. Webs will eventually get more expensive as they are actually used, before falling again as they become abundant and there is not much use for them. What the overall effect on the CD will be I don't know, as on the one hand more will be created, but not on the scale they were before so the few money sinks may be enough to suck it up.

Rusty's top tip: Buy Webs now for long term investment :P

Rusty's weekly report: As DDs will become almost equal in number to ECs by this time next week, so prices of DDs will probably get nearer to those of ECs (probably DDs rising than ECs falling). CD inflation has begun in earnest again, although markets reflect this less than it is in reality. As I predicted, websites have risen a lot in price.

Rusty's top tip: Keep on those webs for now, and stock up on those cheap DDs!

The fact that no one noticed for half a month shows that no one uses it ;)
I may post a weekly one but its too much upkeep for every day.

2 Months later bump:
Money: 1,283,855,166
Websites: 4,974,840
Energy Charges: 40,975
Donator Days: 31,655

Markets:
EC: 148,291
WS: 99
DD: 104,141

Ratios: (EC : DD : WS : CD)
Commodities: 1 : 0.77 : 121.4 : 31.3k

Markets: 1 : 1.42 : 1.5k : 148k

Conclusion: Inflation is still happening at a rate of about 100 mil a week. Webs need to find a use or they will just pile up and go down in value, as they are already about 1/3 of their 2 month ago vaule. DDs are starting to become more fairly priced, though they are still less than 3 times an EC, so are effectively free ;) and have oddly increased in number... Although there is a lot more money around (3 times as much), while the amount of ECs has doubled, EC prices are only about 25% up.

Re: Rusty's NCW inflation watch!

Postby michaelarby on Tue, 06 Apr 2010 01:23:46 +0000

the inflation problem stems from a general design flaw in the game- features such as servers and random hacks generate money out of thin air for the player. the more players, the more money generated. its like water filling a bath. what makes this so bad is that theres no way to remove some of this money- ie pulling the plug outta the bath. hell, even selling ECs is bad for the economy, since technically they are created for free and sold at a high price.

with the exception of buying equipment, healing or starting a gang and a few other things which are either negligable or one off expenses, there is no way to remove cash from the system. since the ec market place etc just transfer money around it stays in the system and still adds to inflation. eventually the rich become richer and the poorer new players will never get a chance to catch up.

the cash flow in does not match the cash flow out. its good that bank interest has been eliminated and that there is a tax on the marketplace (tho the market place tax is not a strong solution, it will only slow the rise in inflation)

it was the same in old CW- the oldest players always stayed at the top so long as they kept playing, as they could buy more ecs and increase their stats at a faster rate than newer players.

but back on point. If you want to avoid this situation happening again there needs to be some protocols put in place to remove money from the system. Some Suggestions:

- There could be a cash requirement for training for example, increasing with higher levels or whatever.
- Gang 'tax'. for a gang to exist it must pay a tax daily, weekly etc or else be frozen until paid. this will not only allow money to filter out of the game world, but will help promote activity in gangs, and provide more reason for individual gangs charging credit taxes
- Players could charge a weekly rent for their computer/apartment/base whatever.
- much lower payouts from servers and random hacks

I appreciate that changes like this would be unpopular- no one wants to pay rent for example, and the whole point of the game is to get richer, but right now the system is equivalent to just having money rain down from the sky, rather than having someone pay you out of their pocket for your work.

I wouldn't mind much of this, however, at this rate, money is so hard to come by as it is. And adding any of this kind of tax system would absolutely kill the newer players. Hell, I am not a newer player and I still have not gotten over 5m yet! (probably by choice since i don't sell EC's) but still. Personally, i don't see any way out. As newer players join, they will never catch up. what took Ozy 2 years to build, must take the newest members also 2 years. and if anyone here has played a racing game, being 5 Seconds behind the next car is still rather far... if ya catch my drift (no pun intended)...

Perhaps the only way i can see is that as we get higher in the "go hacking" (meaning, making ALOT more levels) and instead of having it go up by 5 - 10 hours or higher, possible days. As this would still even be moot simply because at the 1.5 hr sentence i still don't stay in jail for at most 20 minutes. Perhaps, we can put a bust limit. Meaning if someone tries to bust the same player 3 times and fails they can't bust that player again until the next time they are in jail, or twice. than again, busting is rather probably average of 5 successful busts per 1 caught... Unless you try to bust me apparently.. ;)

In any case, all new players will have it harder then us .. since to catch us, they will need tones of ECS and the price of ECS are sky rocketing !

For me, more the ECS are expensive the better it is .. that means you'll need more cd to buy them to catch me .. HAHA
