INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Cyber Wars! This is an online role playing game based on a slightly futuristic time where there are Hackers and Net Guards. The Hackers are attempting to destroy the internet forever; it is up to the Net Guards to stop them! Are you ready for the challenge?!

There are many things to experience in Cyber-Wars… Want to show your true power, create a gang; Compete with thousands of players in the race to #1.

In this tutorial, many of the key features of Cyber Wars will be explained. To fully understand the tutorial, I suggest you to open another tab/window with Cyber-Wars open so you may browse the site as it is being explained. This tutorial may seem long, so the main parts are City, Hacking Arena, Jobs/Intent, Gangs, and Teams. We will begin by explaining the navigation buttons located on the left side.

STATS LOG
In your Stat Log you will find four main things:

1.) In Game Stats
You will find all your in-game stats here.

BUS Speed
Increase this stat to increase your chances of successfully striking your opponent and even dealing double damage in battle!
CPU Speed
Increase this stat to increase the number of times you attempt to strike your opponent in battle.
Hard Drive
Increase this stat to increase the damage each successful strike does to your opponent.
Hacking
This is used as a source of income, and it can help you gain IQ at a faster rate.
RAM
This stat is your defense stat, increase this to reduce the amount of damage a player does to you in battle.
IQ
This is one of the most important stats because the more IQ you have, the more your stats will increase when you train them. It may a good idea to get your IQ up as early as possible. You may lose a few battles in the beginning, but it will pay off in the long run. The Maximum IQ is 500.
Intent Skill
This is a really important stat. Get this stat up as much as possible. For every 25 intent skill you gain, you receive a 'stat boost' which can be used to boost any one of your stats by 25! Note: You must be level 5 to start training this skill.

2.) Your Log
Every battle you fight will be listed here, as well as the outcome and the experience/cyber dollars gained.

3.) Your Transfer Log
This will record your last ten transactions on the market, with your gang, or in the casino.

4.) Other Game Stats/Personal Information
Your stat ranks are displayed here, as well as some other personalized game info.

THE CITY
After joining Cyber Wars, you will notice the City is an important place. Here you can find many things that will help you progress through the game.

Hardware Shop/Equipment
The Hardware Shop is where you can make yourself stronger. The "hardware" gives decent stat boosts. Make sure to buy a motherboard first, or else you will not be able to equip anything else. To equip your hardware, go to 'Equipment' (You must equip a motherboard first!)
The Market
This is where you go to buy or sell Energy Charges, Donator Days, or Websites (Explained later on). To use the market go to 'Market' select a category. Be careful what you buy, because all sales are final. If you would like to sell something, click on 'Add Listing'. View the other listings first to get an idea what price you should sell for. Websites generally sell for 150-350. Energy Charges generally sell for 75,000-100,000, and Donator Days generally sell for 40,000.

*NOTE: When you are pricing an item, it asks you for the price per unit, not the total price.
**Please avoid posting up at high prices, as no one will ever buy them, and they just clutter up the market.

TIP: One of the best ways you can make money as a new player is to make and sell energy charges. To make an energy charge, look in the city under 'Make Energy Charges'. Click on this, and make as many energy charges as you like.
Lottery
If you think you are lucky try the lottery. If you're up for a risk, go for it, you may win BIG. But there are probably better ways of spending your money as a new player.
Capacity Scout
You won't be using this until later in the game, because you need 10,000 websites in order to gain access. It is worth the investment though. Once you have saved up 10,000 websites, come here and buy your first capacity scout. Now you can use scouts to search for RAM blocks by clicking on 'Scan'. For each scout you have, you will get 10 ram blocks. After you scan, click on 'Market' and you can sell each RAM block for 2 capacity, which can then be used to search the 'Grid'(Explained later).
NPC (Non-Player Characters)
This is where you can fight computer opponent. This is not the most efficient way to train, but it will do the job.
Hack a PC
This takes your hacking skill into play. The higher your hacking skill, the more payout you will receive. You will also receive a small bit of hacking skill.
Go Hacking
Here you can exercise several options to increase your money or your IQ. You are allowed 5 successful hacks per day. This is the easiest way to train IQ. The probability of your success is based on your IQ, Hacking, and Speed (BUS Speed)
*NOTE: If you fail too much at one, try one that is easier or try working on IQ, Hacking, and Speed.
Study Hacking
If you're finding that you're not succeeding in 'Go Hacking' as much as you'd like to, maybe your hacking skill isn't high enough. Hacking is the strongest contributor to your chance of success, so training hacking can help.
Jail
There are 3 different jails.

1.) Hackers Jail- the only jail that's actually a 'part of the game' - when you fail at hacking, this is where you end up for a given period of time.
2.) IP Jail- for the worst of the worst CW criminals - this is where people are thrown when CW just wants to get rid of them altogether.
3.) User Jail- people get thrown in here for multiple accounts, spamming, or generally behaving inappropriately.
Misc.
'CW's Best', 'Monuments', and 'Gang Hall of Fame' are just ways of seeing who's the best. Take a peek if you have time to know who you have to beat.

THE BANK
This is where you go to deposit/withdraw Cyber Dollars (the main form of currency on Cyber Wars.)

Cash- the amount of cyber dollars you are carrying on hand.
Bank- the amount of cyber dollars you have in the bank.

NOTE: It is really important to keep money in your bank at all times. People can take a percentage of your Cyber-Dollars when they hack you, if you leave it in-hand.

COMPUTER REPAIR
Go here to repair your computer when you have been hacked, or level up. It costs 1 cyber dollar to heal 1 hp… so as you level up more, it will become more and more expensive. You can also wait till the top of the hour (1:00, 2:00, etc.) and you will automatically be healed. One way to lower the cost is by joining a gang. Most of the gangs out there have full hospital coverage, so they will pay for you.

HACKING ARENA
This is where you go to test your skills against your opponents in open combat. It is always a good idea to train your stats up a bit and buy some hardware before you come here trying to fight people. When you go here, you'll have to search for an opponent. There are several ways, which you will see upon entering the battle arena, but the most effective way is to list the players by level. Try fighting people your own level first, and if you can beat them, you can try out some people that are higher levels than you.

Keep in mind, every time you fight someone, several things happen… your win/loss is recorded… if you get a really bad win/loss record, some gangs won't let you in, so it's a good idea to try to keep your record good. This is not hard to do though, because it's only the battles that you choose to fight that get recorded in your stats. For instance, if Orsm were to attack me, he would get a win in his stats, but my win/loss record would remain unchanged. Similarly, if I were to attack Orsm, I would get a loss, and his record would remain unchanged. So what else happens? Well, if you attack someone, it appears in their log… just be careful who you pick on, because some of the gangs out there are really loyal, so if you start killing someone who's in such a gang, repeatedly, you might be on many hitlists.

So, you've found the list of players, and you're ready to fight. From here, it's easy. You'll notice that the players are sorted by their ID, the oldest players being listed first. Remember, the lower the ID, the longer the player has been around. Keep in mind that a person with a lower ID than you has had more time to train than you, so they have the potential to be better. This is not to say by any means that you should only attack people with higher IDs than you… it's simply a warning

When you select the opponent you wish to battle, and click 'Attack' beside their name, the battle will automatically open up. Here it will show you how you did against your opponent, factoring in BUS, CPU, HD, and RAM.

*NOTE: Doing a lot of battling early in the game will result in you leveling up very fast… though this can be a good thing (small stat boosts + hp boost every level), it's dangerous, because the higher level you are, the more likely people are to attack you. Again, I stress that it's a good idea to train first. Then you'll be able to battle higher leveled players when you're ready to fight, gain a ton of experience from them, and level up very fast.

Your exp increases with each fight you win, as well as you will probably find cyber dollars as well.

SERVERS
Also known as the 'Server Hangout' in the city. You will need 100 websites to get in for the first time, then after that, its free! This will be the best 100 websites you ever spend. Do this as early as possible so you can start taking advantage of the bonus money servers provide you with. I'd suggest building up as many servers as you can afford in the early stages of the game, and that will set you up financially, and you'll be able to have a lot more freedom with your money, buy better hardware, or whatever else you want.

FACILITY
This is where you train your four basic stats: BUS, CPU, HD, RAM. Each stat will help you in combat in a certain way. There are many different ratios you can have your stats, but it's your call though, experiment around and see what works best.

There are = 5 facilities - Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Theta.

Requirements:
Alpha - None
Beta - Must have at least 1 Donator Day
Gamma - 1,000 in each primary stat
Delta - 10,000 in each primary stat
Theta - 25,000 in each primary stat

STUDY
This is where you train IQ.

Each time you train IQ (5 energy), you get 0.01 IQ

THE GRID
The grid is where you search for Websites and a few Cyber-Dollars. The Grid uses capacity from the capacity bar. 10 Capacity = 1 search on the grid. A capacity scout will help you gain some more capacity. You can find 'Capacity Scout' in the City.

VIRUSES
This is where you purchase a virus. You can buy "bad" viruses which will reduce the stats of an enemy for four hours. You can also buy "good" viruses for your friends, as well as your self. You can access better viruses as you improve your Hacking skill.

CHAT
This is where you can interact live with other players on the game, meet new friends, and talk about the game, or whatever! There seem to be a lot of chat rooms being added lately so this post may not cover all of them.

General Chat – talk about the game, life, make jokes, meet people, ask questions (after reading the tutorial)
Donators Chat – a special area contributing players can go to hang out
Market Chat – true, there’s usually no one in it, but post messages about what you’re selling… people check it from time to time to see if there’s any good deals in the market that catch their attention
Gang Chat – only members of your gang are allowed in here… get to know people in your gang better, talk strategy, or just chill.

MAIL
Send and receive mail. You have to know their ID. You can search for it via username, or find them in the forums and remember their ID.

GANGS
Gangs are great ways to meet a lot of people who can help you learn the game, cover your hospital fees, be your attacking buddies, and much more. There are many gangs on Cyber Wars, all of them listed when you click on "Gangs" on the left menu bar. I advise you to take some time and find a gang that suits your needs. Keep an eye out for wealth, number of members, gang leader, exp tax, credit tax and gang level. Gang owners are always eager to talk about their gang, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to mail them and ask them about their gang.

JOBS/INTENT
This is the most important part of CW, as I mentioned before. The sole purpose of a job is to increase your intent skill. Pick the largest one you can with the lowest tax… if you pick a smaller business, you'll have to switch eventually, and that costs 10 intent, so you might as well start off in the big ones.

Once you have a job, you can start working for your business. Click on 'Jobs' from the left menu, then select "start working for my business" you'll then be presented with several jobs.

Remember, keep at it, even though it will seem like you fail all the time at the beginning, it's the most important stat, and it's good to get a good start on it. Just think of those +25 stat bonuses! (You must be level 5 to join a business.)

TEAMS
The button 'View Team Stats' leads you to a page letting you know which team (Hackers or Net Guards) have been winning in the past weeks, and who your team's kill leaders are. Basically, it just gives you an idea of how your team has done in the past, and who's doing the most contributing to your team's score. Contributing to your team can be very useful. To kill the opposite team, select the 'Show Opposing Team only' when at the 'Hacking Arena'. You can receive bonus energy for doing your team kills, 200 Team Kills = +5 Energy every 15 Min.; 400 Team Kills = +5 Energy every 10 Min.; 600 Team Kills = +5 Energy every 5 Min.

The members of the winning team each week get 10 energy charges each. Also, the top 5 killers each week on the winning team get rewarded with a few bonus energy charges!

OUTPOSTS
This is a mini-game that currently has no affiliation whatsoever with CW and it's always fun to brag about how big your outpost is.

There is a fairly comprehensive tutorial on outposts.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
First thing to do is explore everything. Use this guide if you like, but you should generally learn where everything is and what everything does before you get too far into the game.

First thing you should do is get yourself a job and start attempting Job 1.
Scan the grid constantly as well - for cyber dollars and websites.
When you have 100 websites, go to servers and buy your way in.
Remember to get your IQ up before you get into any serious stat training.
With the income you gain from the servers, buy some hardware and do some fights. Make sure to chat and socialize in the forums, it really helps in the long run.

CYBER WARS TIPS
Things take a while to get going in this game, it's all a matter of how patient you are and at what time you want to be the best. Any newbie could train up their stats at the very beginning of the game and clock everyone at any given time, but the people who trained IQ first would be superior.

The balanced player trains things sort of all at the same time, in steps. For instance, I got 35 IQ, then trained my stats a little, then I got 50 IQ trained my stats more. Pretty soon I'll be able to rely on intent to maintain my stat increases and focus my energy solely on IQ so that I can boost any stat quickly if need be.

The efficient player hardly trains their stats at all in the beginning, and goes straight for IQ... within a month you can get well over 100 IQ if you're dedicated enough. Once they achieve their desired IQ, they begin their stats training. Though this is probably the best way to do it to be the best in the long run, play the game however it suits you best… and remember that anyone can be the best, you just have to stick with it.

So as you can see, there is a different timeframe for each different type of player specialty (early game, mid game, balanced, or efficient). Each player type will succeed at different times and in different ways. If you thinking you've already started down a certain path, just think of NOW as a new start... and play the way that best suits you.

Try to avoid coming across as a noob, especially in the forums, and chat too. It's ok to ask questions when you are unclear about something, but try to word them decently. It doesn't have to be perfect, but …

"h0w 2 ply?"
"wot is srervers"
"dis game sux"

posts like this don't usually auger well, they show disrespect from the player that posted them. If you want someone to take their time to actually answer your questions, at least show the decency of phrasing your question coherently.

Try to avoid ripping (ie - insulting) on an established player or gang, as they probably have the power to make your time on CW miserable. Choose your enemies wisely.

Remember, it's not a huge deal at this point, if someone kills you. Worse comes to worst, you can't fight anyone else for a short while… but it doesn't affect your stats, so don't get down on yourself if someone keeps killing you. It will soon pass, usually if you don't make a big deal about it they leave you alone faster. It's the people that try to insult them and call them names that get picked on. I also recommend you read the Frequently Asked Questions section in this guid if you want to know something.

100 - 5 500- ? 1000 - 17

I will get exact numbers afterschool if that is ok... but the 1k war is right, as well as 100

-- Thu, 18 Mar 2010 12:32:58 +0000 --

* Gangs with less than 10 members can only declare 100 kill wars
* Gangs with 10-16 members can declare 100 and 500 kill wars.
* Gangs with 17 or more members can declare any size war.
